Join Us at Our Third Candidate Forum on
Tuesday, July 13, 2010

This is the third event of a summer-long series. The program will start at 7:00pm with the following schedule:

7:00pm: Attorney General Patrick Lynch
8:00pm: General Treasurer Frank Caprio

In an effort to encourage a dialogue between Democratic candidates for statewide offices and young voters, the Rhode Island Young Democrats will host a series of candidate forums. All forums will take place at The 201 on 201 Westminster Street in Providence.

The first event will take place on Tuesday, June 8, at 7 pm. The program will feature Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts, who has announced her intentions to run for a second term. Also taking part will be Secretary of State Ralph Mollis, who will run for re-election, and State Senator Leonidas Raptakis, who has announced his intention to run for Secretary of State. Jeremy Kapstein, an announced Democratic candidate for Lt. Governor was invited to take part in the forum. Unfortunately, due to a scheduling conflict, he will be unable to attend.

A second event on Tuesday, June 22 will feature General Treasurer candidate Gina Raimondo, as well as attorney general candidates Joe Fernandez, Peter Kilmartin, and Stephen Archambault.

The third event on Tuesday, July 13th will feature our two Gubernatorial Candidates: Attorney General Patrick Lynch and General Treasurer Frank Caprio.

Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions beforehand that will be addressed by the candidates. Questions can be e-mailed to RIyoungdems@gmail.com

These forums are FREE and open to Democrats of all ages!

Happy New Year from the
RIYD Executive Board!

Dear RI Young Democrat,

Looking back, the Rhode Island Young Democrats (RIYD) have enjoyed a productive 2009. At the beginning of the year, RIYD set goals to improve the infrastructure of the organization and provide greater access to lawmakers. The organization did this – and more!

RIYD attracted new members, created opportunities for young Democrats to interact with lawmakers, and asked voters what is important to them. All of these activities will serve to mobilize young Democrats as we approach the 2010 election, which by all accounts will impact the future of our state.

Our work is far from complete and we need your help in 2010. We hope that you will stay involved with the Rhode Island Young Democrats, join the discussion at one of our events, and consider donating to our state political action committee. It is important that we not lose momentum as we head into a decisive election year. Today, young people stand strong and united as an integral part of establishing and maintaining a Democratic majority in our great state.

Thank you for your continued dedication and support of this organization, but more importantly to the Democratic Party.

Best Regards,

Meghan Grady
President
