New survey to examine issues important to young voters

Recently the Young Democrats of Rhode Island launched a survey, “Tell RIYD What’s Important to You,” to better understand the issues that Rhode Island young voters are passionate about. The organization will use the results of the survey to help focus the grassroots lobbying efforts of the organization.

“It is important that we continue the momentum of last month’s historic inauguration of President Obama,” says Meghan Grady, the new president of the Rhode Island Young Democrats. “We want to know what issues are important to young voters, which will help us create a strong organization to advocate on their behalf.” The survey and the March event are the first initiatives organized by the new executive board of the Rhode Island Young Democrats. In addition to Grady, the officers and their positions include:

Kim Ahern, Vice President
Anthony Colaluca, Treasurer
Elise Swearingen, Secretary
Suzy Alba, National Committee Woman
Eric Coury, National Committee Man
Rich Blott, Political Director
Dave Cranshaw, Communications Director
David Graziano, Membership Director
Gabe Amo, Outreach Director
Andy Ullucci, Legal Director
Amanda Sagarin, Diversity Director
William Pierce, Events Director
John Berard, Events Director

“We have assembled a dedicated group of board members who are passionate about issues that affect our state,” says Grady. "We look forward to working with our elected officials on issues that are important to young people throughout Rhode Island."

Ahern, who was elected as a Rhode Island delegate for Barack Obama at the National Convention in Denver, looks forward to continuing her work for change in Rhode Island. “It is important that we continue to demand the very best out of our elected officials,” she says. “I look forward to continuing this work in Rhode Island to ensure a prosperous future for our state.”
